Twitter is my new RSS

Written by tfitch on March 30, 2010 – 3:03 pm -

Since the start of the year (and probably longer) I’ve found that Twitter is my new news reader, replacing most RSS.

I rarely find myself in Google Reader anymore.  But I will check out Tweetdeck on my iPod Touch a couple times a day.  Read everything and fave the ones with links I want to read later.  I don’t even load the AIR version of Tweetdeck, just the iPod Touch one.  It’s fast and efficient.

I am missing some data that I have in RSS feeds that I don’t have on Twitter but that’s been okay so far.  I know I’m missing that news by not reading all of it, but I also know that I’m not really missing that news in my day to day life.  It is a matter of prioritization for me really.  I have been busy at work, so I haven’t had the longer stretches of time to read full RSS articles compared to 140 character summaries.

I don’t think this is the future for everyone, but for reading lots of information fast I think Twitter is a real winner right now.
